What is the Thoroughbred Makeover?

Please click here for more information on the RRP and Thoroughbred Makeover

The Thoroughbred Makeover competition began in 2013 as a way to demonstrate the usefulness and versatility of off the track thoroughbreds.

Since the first competition held at Pimlico Race Course, it has grown from almost 50 entries, to this year capping around 600.

Eligible horses are able to compete in up to two disciplines, out of ten, including Eventing, Dressage, Jumpers, and many more!

The selection process requires submission of an application with prior accomplishments and a statement of training principles. Once selected, professionals, amateurs, and junior riders all compete against each other, and the top three from each discipline come back Sunday to compete in the live broadcast Finale, to be held in the covered arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

For 2017, the RRP Challenge is October 5th-8th. We currently have two candidate horses working hard to win their bid for the challenge. Check back in August to find out the identity of our winner!!
